HISPANO-SUIZA V-8 AIRCRAFT ENGINE: "Hispano-Suiza made under license from the French Company were models "A" 150 h.p., "I" 150 h.p., and "H" 300 h.p. The improved models, made from 1920 on, were models E-2, E-3, and E-4, all of 180-210 h.p., and models H-2 and H-3 of 300-320 h.p. These models were first call Wright-Hispano engines, and later simply Wright Engines. The models A and I develop 150 h.p. at 1,450 r.p.m. at sea level. The Model E develops 180 h.p. at 1,800 r.p.m. This engine is similar to type A except the compression is higher and a larger carburetor used. The compression ratio on the A and I was 4.72-1. SPECIFICATIONS Valves are actuated from cams by an overhead camshaft on each cylinder block and the carburetor is hung centrally. Bore is 120 mm (4.72") and stroke 130 mm (5.12"). Weight is approximately 450 pounds, including magnetos, carburetor, but without radiator or exhaust pipes. Speed 1,450 r.p.m. Pistons, aluminum alloy, Connecting rods forked.
